Today marks DAY ONE of our Lifeschooling journey! We’re starting with one of the first skills every child learns: writing their name, just so I could explain them my ideas and the switch between my previous 'homeschooling' approach with this new one.
I've explained this in detail on my intro blog post, but the idea is to teach them mini life lessons and real life-skills (problem solving, communication, self-confidence, responsibilities, etc...) with mini fun 'how-to' daily lessons.
I'm in the process of creating resources to create 'study units', for us to use etc... and that you guys could also download to help you start on your own lifeschooling journey! I will document it all once they're ready.
So here is to our DAY ONE.
Today, we're learning how to write our names.
In minuscule.
In cursive.
In bold and italic.
With different fonts.
We learn by doing... And this is exactly what I want to do here with them.
Allowing them to take the lead in our activities, decide the topics, and be hands-on throughout the process.
At the end of each 'how-to' lesson, I’ll be giving them a mini reward certificate, like a fun way to let them know they've smashed it and reinforce the positive experience!
And will get them to collect them somewhere as a fun way to have a look at their own progress.
Honestly, there is so much I want to show and teach them. They naturally learn real life lessons as we 'live' anyway by spending our entire days together, by travelling, by spending time with both our families across the world etc... but my goal is to reinforce that at home too.
Simple things like I've learned way too late in life... such as:
– Mindset
– Leadership & Influence
– Home & Life Skills
– Cooking & Food Preparation
– Personal Development & Independence
– Entrepreneurial & Money Management Skills
– Investments
– Critical Thinking & Creativity
– Communication & Social Skills
– Outdoor & Survival Skills
etc...
But as their dad and I continue to grow and learn, they will grow alongside us.
It’s really important to me and their dad that they become fully responsible for themselves early on and develop an understanding of the world we’re living in.
I'm going deep into this in the INTRO blog post #1 so don't hesitate to go and read this one too!
I would love to hear your own thoughts on this!
